The Sak, an original California lifestyle brand, was founded in 1989 when childhood friends Mark Talucci and Todd Elliott left their corporate jobs to pursue their passion for discovering new treasures and traveling the world. During a trip to Bali, Indonesia, they were inspired to start a business importing "found treasures" to their hometown of San Francisco, including a simple rattan and leather bag fashioned from a Balinese sleeping mat, which sparked the idea to specialize in bags.

In 1994, the imported handcrafted rattan bags became incredibly popular at major retailers, prompting Mark and Todd to take their brand to the next level. The Sak was born, offering a singular bag made from a unique fabrication using hand-crocheted nylon string, which became one of the most iconic bags of the 1990s and started a "crochet craze."

Regarding the specific details of the Sak Iris Crossbody Bag, the exterior is crafted from 100% leather sourced from a Leather Working Group (LWG) gold-rated certified tannery, ensuring environmentally responsible sourcing processes and sustainable water usage. The trim is 100% polyurethane, the strap is 100% cotton, and the lining is 100% polyester. The bag features a zipper closure, a front zipper pocket, a back slit pocket, antique hardware, an adjustable webbing crossbody strap, and an interior with a back wall zipper pocket and two front wall elastic slide pockets.

In partnership with the LWG, The Sak sources over 90% of its leather from tanneries that comply with environmental sourcing processes and sustainable water usage. Additionally, the bag's interior is PETA-approved and features Vegan Certified Repreve Lining, which is durable, water-repellent, stain-resistant, and made from recycled materials, including plastic bottles.

The bag dimensions are 10" L x 2" W x 12" H, with a 23" drop. To clean, the brand recommends using a water-based leather cleaner and moisturizer, as well as a protective spray to safeguard the leather surface.
